Jailer 2 Movie Review: Rajinikanth’s Comeback is Pure Fire | Lightboy Talks

Jailer 2 Review: Muthuvel Pandian Returns and Nelson Totally Cooked

Jailer 2 finally dropped in theaters today, and let’s just say director Nelson Dilipkumar totally cooked. As the highly anticipated sequel to the 2023 blockbuster, this movie keeps the exact same immaculate energy as the first part. It serves major fan service while keeping Rajinikanth's superstar aura alive with his booming, iconic dialogues. If you were hyped for this release, you won't be disappointed.

The Villains & Star-Studded Cameos

The villains absolutely understood the assignment. Suraj Venjaramoodu stepping in as the gangster Dileep was intensely menacing and gave a massive W performance. Even though new heavyweights like Mithun Chakraborty's family and SJ Suryah's Bodhi Kalpak were introduced to the mix, you could still feel the lingering, goated aura of Varman from part one hanging over the story.

The cameos in this film were insanely fire on screen. We got returning legends like Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Shivarajkumar, and even Vijay Sethupathi pulling up. But the biggest flex? Hrithik Roshan stepping in during the climax as Roddy. He even spoke Tamil to help out Muthuvel Pandian, delivering a legendary fan moment that had theaters erupting.

Action, Twists, and BGM Vibes

The plot twists were super engaging and kept the vibes high the whole time. The biggest jaw-dropper hits when Vidya Balan's character, Kantha, spills the tea that Muthuvel actually shot his own son point-blank for being corrupt.

When it comes to the action, the sequences were classic and easily hit Hollywood standards, no cap. The climax fight was an absolute movie, and the girls in that specific scene totally slayed and left no crumbs. As for the music, Anirudh Ravichander’s score definitely brought the energy. However, let's be real—it relied heavily on the same BGM tracks from the first Jailer, so it didn't bring anything super fresh to the table musically.

The Positives (W's)

  • Rajinikanth's Screen Presence: The Superstar's aura remains unmatched.
  • Hollywood-Level Action: The climax fight sequence is visually stunning and expertly choreographed.
  • Insane Cameos: The return of legacy characters plus Hrithik Roshan's surprise appearance is pure hype.
  • Strong Antagonists: Suraj Venjaramoodu delivers a top-tier villain performance.
  • Plot Twists: The storyline stays engaging with high-stakes reveals.

The Negatives (L's)

  • Repetitive Music: Anirudh's score is good, but recycling the BGM from Part 1 feels a bit safe and lacks novelty.
  • Pacing Issues: The second half gets a bit uneven before ramping up for the climax.

Final Verdict

Even with a slight pacing dip in the second half, the massive mass moments make Jailer 2 a completely satisfying watch that lives up to the hype. Muthuvel Pandian is back, and it's a theatrical experience you don't want to miss.
