Sundeep Kishan in an action sequence from the heist comedy movie Sigma.

The opening weekend numbers are officially in for Sigma, and the box office trajectory is a bit of a mixed bag. Directed by Jason Sanjay in his highly anticipated directorial debut, the heist action-comedy hit screens on October 2, 2026. Starring Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah, the film generated solid pre-release buzz, but how is that translating into actual ticket sales?

Let’s break down the domestic numbers from its opening weekend run.

The First Weekend Breakdown

According to the latest trade reports, Sigma wrapped up its first Sunday (Day 3) by adding an estimated ₹1.50 crore net to its tally across 1,753 shows. This brings the film's total 3-day domestic net collection to around ₹5.35 crore.

When you look at the gross figures, the Sundeep Kishan starrer has crossed the ₹6 crore mark, sitting at a total India gross of ₹6.10 crore after its first weekend. While these numbers aren't massive, the film has managed to maintain a surprisingly steady pace, with Day 2 and Day 3 collections matching each other perfectly at ₹1.50 crore net.

The Tamil vs. Telugu Split

Because Sigma was shot and released as a bilingual project, tracking the regional split is where the data gets interesting. Tamil Nadu is currently leading the charge. On opening day alone, the Tamil version brought in ₹1.50 crore net, significantly outpacing the Telugu version which pulled in ₹85 lakhs.

That trend continued through the weekend. By Sunday, Tamil Nadu had contributed roughly ₹3.15 crore to the overall gross, while the Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) brought in about ₹2.18 crore. Karnataka and Kerala have offered marginal support, bringing in ₹47 lakhs and ₹24 lakhs respectively.

The Road Ahead: Can Sigma Hold Strong?

The biggest hurdle Sigma is facing right now is the competition. The movie opened directly against Vijay Sethupathi's Baththa, which has been pulling stronger footfalls and seeing massive day-to-day growth in the Tamil market.

For Sigma to secure a successful theatrical run, it needs a strong hold through the first crucial Monday. The lack of major drops over the weekend is a positive sign, but the real test of its word-of-mouth appeal starts now. The action sequences and pacing have drawn mixed reactions, so all eyes are on how the weekday occupancy holds up.

If you missed it in theaters, don't worry—Netflix has already secured the post-theatrical streaming rights, though an official OTT release date is still strictly under wraps.
