The wait is finally over for one of the most hyped pan-Indian collaborations of the year. Wunderbar Films has officially dropped the new release date for OM: Chapter 1 - The Blood Moon, and it’s hitting screens worldwide on November 20, 2026.
If you've been tracking this project, you know it was initially locked in for October 16. But Dhanush made the call to push it back to avoid a massive box office collision with Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 (which took the October 15 slot) and to steer clear of Suriya's Scene during the Diwali window. It was a smart move for the industry, and now OM gets a solo run to dominate the late-November box office.
Two Heavyweights, One Screen
The biggest selling point of OM is right there on the poster: Dhanush and Malayalam megastar Mammootty sharing the screen for the very first time.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy (who recently delivered the massive hit Amaran), the film is an action-heavy drama set against the backdrop of the red sanders smuggling trade. The title teaser already gave us a glimpse of Dhanush as a rugged woodcutter, promising a return to the raw, "vintage mass" Dhanush that fans have been begging for. The latest poster just dialed up the hype even more, showing both Dhanush and Mammootty in intense, blood-splattered avatars wielding guns.
A Stacked Supporting Cast
Beyond the two leads, the casting is absolutely top-tier. Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela are on board as the female leads, and Bollywood veteran Naseeruddin Shah steps in for a pivotal role.
On the technical side, the crew is just as solid:
- Music: Sai Abhyankkar (expect a heavy, adrenaline-pumping BGM)
- Cinematography: Ezhil Arasu K
- Editing: Kalaivanan R
Since the title clearly says "Chapter 1", this is obviously being set up as a multi-part franchise. With a massive release planned across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, November 20 is going to be a massive day for theaters.
